Bermed Earth-Sheltered Wall for Low-Income House: Thermal and Energy Measure to Face Climate Change in Tropical Region

چکیده
Climate change impact is one of the most important global concerns at present. In building environment, climate-responsive design may help to enhance adaptation capacity through a better energy performance. this sense, study addresses an strategy reduce effects warming on low-income houses, for which bioclimatic passive strategies should be prioritized, aiming improve environmental sustainability. The technique chosen analyzed thermal mass cooling. Thus, goal evaluate consumption and performance implementing bermed earth-sheltered walls bedrooms in housing (LIH), considered deployed tropical climate regions. For that, base scenario (1961–1990) considered, alongside two future scenarios: 2020 (2011 2040) 2050 (2041 2070), both considering change, according Fourth Report (AR4) Intergovernmental Panel Change (IPCC). methodologies adopted are (i) computational simulation estimate annual demand (ii) quantification cooling degree-hours (CDH), with subsequent comparative analysis based Brazilian regulation efficiency buildings (RTQ-R). predictions show that there will increase CDH scenarios, regardless using wall. Nonetheless, adaptive measure enables resilient terms 2020s, since it 12.3% lower than without use, compared scenario. 2050s, resilience was almost reached only 10.7% higher, same conditions described previously. Therefore, work as face potential effects, promoting sustainability

Climate Resilient Low-Income Tropical Housing
Located in East Africa, Uganda is one of the most economically deprived countries that is likely to be dramatically affected by climate change. Over 50% of Ugandan families live in single-roomed overcrowded properties and over 60% of the country’s urban population live in slums. Moreover, the gradual shift towards relatively modern and low thermal resistance building materials, in addition to i...
متن کاملImpact of Climate Change on Outdoor Thermal Comfort and Health in Tropical Wet and Hot Zone (Douala), Cameroon
Abstract Background and purpose:Climate change has an important role on the health and productivity of the occupant of the building. The objective of this study is to estimate the effects of climate change on thermal comfort in hot and wet areas, as in the case of the city of Douala. Materials and Methods:The general circulation model (CSMK3 Model, Scenario B1) was adopted for this purpose.Outd...
متن کاملA Change in Energy Intensity: Test of Relationship between Energy Intensity and Income in Iran
In this paper we study the long- term trend of energy intensity for Iran. We use a quadratic function of the logarithm of income to take account of the change in trend of energy intensity and test the non-monotonic relationship between energy intensity and income during 1967- 2002 We find that the long-run coefficient on squared income is negative and significant, indicating a change in trend o...
متن کاملRedefining Thermal Regimes to Design Reserves for Coral Reefs in the Face of Climate Change
Reef managers cannot fight global warming through mitigation at local scale, but they can use information on thermal patterns to plan for reserve networks that maximize the probability of persistence of their reef system. Here we assess previous methods for the design of reserves for climate change and present a new approach to prioritize areas for conservation that leverages the most desirable...
